As the tallest above water mountain in the world, Mount Everest attracts a wide population of both experienced climbers as well as novices seeking a thrilling climb. Situated with in the Himalayan Mountain Range, Mount Everest has two normal routes to the summit. The first one approaches the summit from the Southeast side in Nepal, known as the Standard Path, and the second comes from the north in Tibet. The climbing itself is not extraordinarily dangerous and rigorous, but Everest poses other threats that climbers must be wary of: Altitude sickness is most prevalent and as a result bottled oxygen must be carried along with a group on the way up to the summit. Other hazards include ice fall and avalanches depending on the season.
