You can watch my 2011 documentary on Child Poverty here for free. You might like to compare it to the just released second annual Child Poverty Monitor which still shows 260,000 children living in income poverty. Thats about the entire population of Wellington City and Nelson City combined. Thats too little progress in 3 years The new report says: 37 percent of poor children come from working families. One in four Kiwi children live in poverty - where their parents dont have enough money to pay bills and purchase everyday essentials - and one in 10 are in severe poverty. 3 in 5 children in poverty will likely remain in poverty for most of their childhood. 180,000 children are going without basics such as fresh fruit and vegetables, a warm house or decent clothing. Of all children, 47 per cent Pasifika children, 25 per cent of Maori children, and 21 per cent of Asian/Indian children live in crowded homes, compared to just 5 per cent of European children. Household crowding has been linked to meningococcal disease and acute rheumatic fever in children. bryanbruce.co.nz/feature/child-poverty/inside-child-poverty-full-documentary #endchildpoverty #johnkey #annetolley #bryanbruce
