You cannot blog in a vacuum; a blogger needs readers, viewers, followers, friends of his or her venture. And some people, as we know, are willing to do just about anything to gain followers. Take Lacey Spears, the so-called “Mommy Blogger”, who allegedly instigated a strategy in which she actually poisoned her young son Garnett with increasingly high does of sodium and then actually reported on his chronic health problems on her blog in order to gain followers. She called her blog “Garnett’s Journey” (named after her son, of course), and at its peak, it was apparently very popular. If Lacey Spears did this, it would be a case of Munchausen syndrome by proxy. Her culpability has not been proven yet, however. The police, though, have stated that the shoe will drop within a month or so.
