You cannot continue asking for more money from the central - TopicsExpress

You cannot continue asking for more money from the central Government for your leisure, foreign trips, excursions, free cars and for your personal benefits at the expense of the poor and the suffering majority. And so what is a referendum? A referendum is a general vote by the electorate on a single political question. The key issues that proponents of the referendum want are increase in devolved funds and free vehicles for MCAs. In my view, this call for referendum is not honest and righteous. So far the amount of money devolved through the counties, the constituencies and wards has not been utilized effectively and efficiently for the benefit of people. Bungoma County received over Ksh. 6 bIllion from the central Government. Tongaren Constitiency for example, got around 122 million through CDF plus additional funding for bursaries. MCAs have also received numerous funding for their programmes. The utilization of these funds leaves a lot to be desired. Just recently MCAs received hundreds of bags of fertilizer and seeds meant for the poor which they turned to themselves, their relatives, cronies, confidants, families, associates and accomplices. Appending for your signature to such a call is self-destruction and committing suicide.
