You cannot justify your choice of action by reference to your history - you can explain a pull on your steering but not the direction you steer. You can choose violence as a response to violence you have experienced or are experiencing but you cannot justify violence because you are the victim of violence. In the unbroken chain of confused inheritance the violence is revisited repeatedly forwards - and only temporary respite is available in that transfer.
