You cant have a serious conversation about femme invisibility without acknowledging that some femmes are more invisible than others. Femme is not shorthand for female-assigned-at-birth queer who is thin, white, rich, American-born, English-speaking and able-bodied. Femme and women are not necessarily interchangeable terms; not all femmes are women or female-identified, nor are all female-identified people femme. Femmephobia (the hatred and oppression of femininity) is a serious issue that affects ANYONE and EVERYONE who identifies as femme, but it affects some more than others. Lets all work on making more space for non-normative femme people and do our part to build a world in which nobody feels invisible because of who they are, or because of the ways that they choose to express themselves. Please?
