You can’t help how you feel but you CAN help how you behave. We have feelings, but we don’t have to let them have us. . I love Joyce Meyer Ministries! Always such good stuff but shes always so stinkin funny too! Babies can act however they feel, but it’s not vey attractive on a 40 year old man! . Seriously though, I love how she often talks about not letting your feelings vote. One of my pet peeves is Christians running around telling people Just follow your heart! If youre a Christian who has ANY knowledge of the Bible you should know better than this!! The Bible is VERY clear about our hearts, how deceitful they can be. Its one thing to have our heart in alignment with Gods heart, that is a beautiful thing, but if our heart is leading us away from Truth and His ways, we need to lead our heart instead of allowing it to lead us because it is leading us astray. . Another pet peeve is the attitude that life is all about making yourself happy, etc, and I cannot BELIEVE how often I see it among self-professed Christians! The idea that its okay to do whatever you want, no matter how wrong, as long it makes you feel happy, then it MUST be okay! As if somehow your happiness justifies the choices that are hurting everyone else in your life and the fact that you are clearly not in accordance with Gods truth and Gods ways, it must be worth it as long as youre happy in this lifetime, right, God must want that for you, huh? . What about eternity? What about the fact that this lifetime is SO short!? The kind of happiness that leaves you whole and fulfilled and brings LIFE comes from God, it comes from being in alignment with His will and His ways and walking in obedience. Any other source of or way to happiness is a fraud, its an illusion, its a quick fix thats going to cause so many more problems. . Do we always feel happy because were living rightly? Of course not. Nobody ever feels happy all the time, but if we choose to pursuing that feeling of happiness over living righteously, at some point were going to come up empty handed. At some point the fruit of our choices will be evident and rarely does it leave anyone involved happy. Sin does not produce lasting happiness, it produces death. And Christians fail like anyone else, this I know, this I have done myself, lol, but let me tell you, if you DO love God you are going to be seriously unsatisfied if youre pursuing things that are not leading you to Him. It will not leave you happy. . Satan is the great deceiver. Hes wonderful at making things look great. Hell use things that have an appearance of light, that seem to promise happiness, that seem to offer fulfillment that youre looking for, but if reaching for that happiness leads you into sin, if it leads you AWAY from God, it is not worth it and it is not what it seems. True fulfillment comes from God. It comes from living according to His ways and His principles. . We are to aim for two main things in life - to love God and to love people. When we do these two things we will experience a kind of joy and fulfillment that nothing else in this life can offer. When we choose to love God and love others it changes the whole world for the better! To love literally means to prefer. If you truly love someone by definition, its the action of putting them first. The action of loving is not dependent on your feelings. So much of what we see in the name of love these days, its all about feelings, but if you look at who is being put first, the only one people are choosing to love is themselves. . The Bible clarifies that in the end times people will be lovers of themselves, and it breaks my heart not only to see it so much in the church but to see so many stand by and pretend everything is okay when its not. By all means, we need to show Gods love to people, but we also need to speak truth. If a friend saw me setting myself up for choices that would leave my life in shambles, I hope they would speak the truth to me in love rather than excuse it in the name of being glad I felt happy. . Hmm. I really was just going to share the quotes, lol, but hey, this is something that is SO prevalent these days I think its all worth saying, so there it is.
