You do not have, because you do not ask. (James 4:2) God has provided a simple way 4 us 2 have the things we desire w/o struggling 2 get them. The verse 4 today says that we don’t have certain things b/c we do not ask God 4 them. A prayer cant be answered if it is not prayed; therefore, we need 2 pray & ask. The type of prayer we pray when we make requests is called a prayer of petition—& this kind of prayer is important b/c God does not do anything in the earth unless somebody prays & asks. U see, we partner w/Him thru prayer. Prayer is simply the means by which we cooperate & work w/Him in the spiritual realm in order 3 get things done in the natural realm. Prayer brings the power of heaven 2 Earth. If r prayers r not answered quickly, we may be asking 4 something that is not God’s will 4 us, or God may be waiting 2 answer b/c He is developing r faith & helping us build r spiritual muscles as we learn endurance & patience. We need 2 petition God & make r requests known 2 Him instead of trying 2 make things happen ourselves. We also need 2 trust His wisdom in how & when He answers. Prayer opens the door 4 God 2 work, but r trying 2 get things in our own effort only frustrates us & hinders God. He is waiting 4 us 2 ask & trust His ways & timing. When we do, He will work mightily on r behalf. God wants 2 do more 4 u than u can imagine, so start asking boldly.
