You dont expect a friendly, upbeat, intelligent and obedient dog to, at 9 years of age, haul off and bite someone for the first time -- I mean actually break skin -- not just do the mouth-warning thing. My training of Lexx to not bite chickens consisted of saying No once. He got it. End of behavior despite being a cattle dog bred to nip his charges. I know the guy he bit and theres no way he would have provoked Lexx. He was just jogging down a dead end country road and Lexx bit him. Yes hes up to date on his shots, etc. and hes in the kennel now for observation. Even though hell test clean I might have to put Lexx down. Hes been a hard worker, a joy to interact with, a work of art to admire and a warm furry comfort during cold winters.
