You dont have to agree. You dont have to understand. However to - TopicsExpress

You dont have to agree. You dont have to understand. However to attempt to rob someone of their right to a reaction, response, emotion, or thought about something that YOU dont understand and therefore undermine and determine is irrelevant, overrated, or not that big of a deal, is insensitive and inconsiderate. Somehow amidst comparisons of Michael Browns situation to other social and racial issues, some are attempting to rob us (anyone who feels the weight of this, regardless of color) who have reacted and have had an emotional response this evening in light of the turnout of this situation. Im not encouraging rioting. Dont be foolish. What Im saying is that for SOME of us, this situation and its outcome rehashes old wounds and that our nation has yet to heal from and takes and throws right back in our face the very things that others (who typically are NOT black) feel we are overreacting to. And I get it, black people arent the only ones. What Im speaking to in this is not to try and ROB and make INVALID the response that many are having to something that has become an all too familiar theme throughout history simply because its not YOUR experience or something YOU care about. I dont mind opinions. Just have a heart behind them. Its already a delicate situation but to then in so many words, or very blatantly in some cases, tell us that we cant have a reaction or a voice behind this and to essentially tell us to feel nothing and be quiet is how much of this language will be interpreted.
