You dont have to leave FB to read our story: For attacking a presidential shy with a slew of bad names, an anti-communist partylist congressman is getting freest tit-for-tat of bad names from netizens. He’s got his Facebook full and is trending while the mixture of hilarity and derisive name-calling in netizens’ retaliatory rants, trolls and bashings make his FB entertaining, funny and – outrageous. Jun Alcover, ANAD partylist representative, who was declared persona non grata by the Davao City Council in 2010, was called names such as amaw, tae, bayot, bakla, tongresman, pastor sa impyerno, psychopath killer yourself, alagad ni nognog (binay), taga hugas ng pwet ni Palparan, KSP, ugok, wa nailhan sa Cebu, pakaulaw lang ka sa mga Cebuano, etc. even as Alcover gamely said in his subsequent post: “You can say anything against me ..you can bully me even in my wall …that’s democracy ..!!!..” One branded Alcover as a scene stealer or sharer, who wants either to steal or to share the limelight being enjoyed by the mayor now as being telescoped to be a good presidential material. Netizen Jude Norbz commented: “Di jud ko katuo ba nga congressman ning tawhana, mu post murag jejemon!” Alcover’s FB ruckus and fun started when he posted on November 27 at 8:57am this: “What a criminal for president ..???.. A pyschopath ???… A silent protector of big time drug lords, terrorist & smugglers ???… A believer of a communist system of justice , Kangaroo court…. ” ur presumed guilty until proven otherwise ” PATAYin ka Muna bago trial ..!!!.. Yan ba ang tamang solusyon ???.. A wrong solution is never correct !!!… Are u proud to the international community that we have a president who is a killer ???.. Tama ba ako Digong?????!….” As of this writing, Alcover has still few defenders while mostly come to either lambast and rant against Alcover or defend Duterte as worth to be the next President of the country with some posting copied-and-pasted news and statistics on the mayor’s legendary feats in the making of Davao City as a great city. Pro-Alcover netizen Buhawe Tahimik has his/her piece to say: “parang mga komunista puro na lang bashing at pananakot kung walang maibigay na rasyonal na paliwanag. Magagalit talaga sila kung malalaman nila ang katotohanan sa pagkatao ni Duterte. Duda ko ang iba dito ay mga komunista…” On the whirlwind of online outrage, the profile and life history of Jun Alcover was posted, revealing his past being a student activist leader, a ranking Kabataang Makabayan officer, his being a pioneer member of NPA expansion team in Visayas and Mindanao regions, his capture, imprisonment, his transformation as an anti-communist leader and his becoming as ANAD partylist congressman. When a netizen J Carl Azuelo Figueroa reposted it, he commented: “…NO WONDER he disliked Mayor Duterte being a protege of former Cong. Nograles and the most corrupt former Pres. GMA…” Now some want Alcover to never step on Davao City even as he was already declared persona non grata. Said one: “Get lost HIPPOPOTAMOS…” Alcover’s FB gets ever entertaining to jaded observers, showing a taste, a trial balloon and precursor of what it gets to be festive and muddy before and during the campaign for the 2016 presidential election if Mayor Duterte so decides as he lately has a change of heart in saying “OK” to not closing his option to run for President when he said to friends in Macau last week. There is a collateral damage shown though from Alcover’s FB ruckus as it shows that the stereotyping of the bakla, bayot as words to degrade someone persists so common, though this is softened by the comic FB memes in the post. Still, the LGBT sector may not like it, appear! Whatever, the online controversy now, in what a netizen said “it’s Alcover vs. the People of Davao City” shows a festive character in the tempest left by one Alcover’s controversial post. Election is Philippine fiesta after all. But this netizen Elaav Laadz might have hit the head of nail when he commented: “THIS MAN IS AFRAID . IF MAYOR DIGONG WINS FOR PRESIDENT, CONGRESS WILL SURELY BE ABOLISHED, AND THIS MAN WILL NO LONGER HAVE ANY JOB FOR A LIVING. IM SURE THIS MAN IS CORRUPT, READ HIS HISTORY AMONG THE COMMENTS, FOR SURE ISA TONG BAYARAN . EXTRA JUDICIAL KILLINGS IS HIS PLAY TOGETHER WITH PALPARAN . ROT IN HELL ALCOVER! IM SURE IF DIGONG WINS, YOU WILL BE HIDING, TAKING CARE OF YOUR LIFE. YOU BETTER PRAY NOW.” Are pork-enriched congressmen and senators secretly laughing on this and taking a bite of Alcover’s post?
