You dont like the poor (or others on their behalf) talking about how they have it rough? As I was filling up my bucket with water at the pump so I could use the toilet a few hundred yards away, the local ladies were doing laundry there. In the rain. Smiling and joking. I said I cant wait till we get our electric pump fixed so I dont have to haul water but Iyan an Buhay Natin (Such is our life - local Filipino expression). The ladies laughed and said now you know our life Father! Yes. Life is hard. I would say harder than in rich countries. It is. It just is. There is sooo much more suffering. Constantly. Its hard to understand if you dont live in it. It is like constant oppression on many levels, like a weight youre constantly asked to carry besides all the rest of the many sufferings people in rich countries have. So please stop getting upset when we talk about the suffering of the poor. Nobodys rubbing it in your face. It is already rubbed in our face every moment. Very seldom we share it.
