You dont really appreciate what people go through until you experience it yourself. Last Wednesday night I picked up Glo in Paranaque. We got stuck in traffic on our way home. (Actually, I got stuck in traffic both going to pick her up and on our way home. Thanks to Janine Estanislao and Kat Dela Cruz for their company and keeping me calm during the drive.) Once we got off the Skyway, we found both the SLEX and the exit at Don Bosco/Pasong Tamo just jammed with cars. What should have take 15 minutes took almost 2 hours. Which brings me to what I wanted to write in the first place, to publicly thank my students who brave both the elements and the traffic in coming to my classes. Its only been recently that Ive had students who lived nearby in San Antonio, Makati and Sta. Ana, Manila. Otherwise, for the past decade or so my students have come from Paranaque, Cubao, Bacoor, Caloocan, Las Pinas, Pasig and Fairview. For those of you familiar with Metro Manila, you can appreciate the distances traveled and the effort it took to get to my place. To my students who have become my friends: Thank You for literally taking the extra mile.
