You ever have those days where youve got places to go but - TopicsExpress

You ever have those days where youve got places to go but everything in the universe is getting in your way of getting there? You know those days where every tractor, every school bus, every slow-poke in your county happens to be on your road going your way? Yeah, Ive had those days too. But you know what, after one day in particular, I look at that from a whole different perspective. One day I left the office on my lunch break. I had a few errands to run and of course had to get something to eat. With only an hour to do it, I was on a mission. I had already mentally mapped out the order of my stops so I could get er done. As soon as I left to head out, I was passing by the courthouse, which is right next to my office building. A car had stopped to drop someone off at the front steps. They didnt bother to pull over even the slightest, and the person inside was taking their own sweet time getting out. Cars were coming the opposite direction so I couldnt pull around. Im not much of a road-raging horn blower, and I try to be patient because I never know what peoples circumstances might be. But I had my hand drawn back ready to lay up on my horn. Thats when the passenger finally got out, and the car proceeded to pull off. You know what they did? Pulled right over into a parallel parking space about 10 feet away. Uhhhhh, give me a break. They could have dont that to start with. So, now all hot in the collar with my well laid out lunch plans seriously delayed, I pulled off in a haste. As I was approaching the next intersection, just ahead of me a car barreled right through the intersection, running a stop sign. I immediately realized that had I not been delayed, I likely would have been right in that intersection for that car to t-bone me, probably hurting me badly. Though I didnt have the good sense to be a little more patient back when the car stopped me, I at least had sense enough then to thank God for that delay. Ever since then I see the delays in my life in a whole new light, Gods light that is. I cant tell you how many times Ive gotten behind a slow driver, then within miles meet a cop a state trooper. That slow driver kept me from getting a speeding ticket. And not just delays on the road, but also delays in my life. I know now that the things in life that seem like is taking so long, God is just waiting for the time to be just right. I understand better now that Gods delays are not always His denials. Only He can line things up in our lives perfectly, and He does. And so I understand better Proverbs 16:9 which says We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps. Look, if you are growing impatient while you wait for something in your life, I encourage you as I remind myself that we need to trust God. Either that thing, opportunity, or person is not right for us, or not at the right time for us. And only God know truly whats right. So I share these words that I often hum to myself from a song by Marvin Sapp, that says Know that not now doesnt mean never. It just means theres a time and place thats so much better.. Now be a good Christian and stop blowing your horn and yelling at every body one the road.
