You ever meet a dog that instantly touches your soul? This is Boyfriend and his mama Amy Giblin. Amy took the first dog I ever sent to rescue several years ago. I didnt even know what rescue was. She introduced me to this crazy wonderful life I live and Im forever grateful. I met Boyfriend when I went to Amys house...all 135 lbs of him. He was a pit/mastiff mix she saved from the shelter in Clanton, AL...he had a chain embedded in his neck and carried the scar. Up til then I wasnt a pit fan. I believed the media hype. Then Amy asked me to transport a pit from Memphis. I was nervous. After all they were killers, ya know? But I agreed and met this skinny sweet female pit who reached over and gently licked my cheek, nothing but gratitude and love in her gaze. I melted and my perception of the breed was forever changed. A few weeks later I met Boyfriend and fell head over heels with this gentle giant. My son Heath had a special relationship with him too. Heath helped Amy on weekends and I always received the funniest pictures of those two. A true glimpse into Boyfriends heart came when he took on the protector role...Amy had a little terrier named Sugar who had seizures. Boyfriend would stand between Sugar and all others 2- and 4-legged and wouldnt let anyone near Sugar until he had recovered from his seizure. Such a precious boy. He crossed Rainbow Bridge a year or so ago. I wanted to share this pic to honor a dog who changed my life for the better. Love ya, big guy. :)
