You gotta love that we live in a society where teaching kids responsibility instead of ignorance is actually vilified. This girls parents are teaching her to respect the firearm, to know it, and giving her an early start to be able to defend herself should she ever have to do so. And all people can come up with is gaaaahhhh, child with gun! You teach kids to be safe around hot stoves, cars, sharp objects, small objects, etc.. Why are guns any different? You educate them about a potentially dangerous thing, and that potential danger decreases significantly.
