You guys know very well that I am a supporter of Boycotts. They have a place and serve a purpose. They have the potential to bring down profits for certain companies which contribute to unethical causes and it demonstrates a political message of solidarity. That being said, im extremely disappointed with the lack of research, insight and wisdom into some of the proposed boycotts that many are spreading. Much of it being spread on misinformation. The majority of these companies have NO ownerships links to Israel or the occupied lands as if often the claim. There is also absolutely NO evidence that any share a proportion of their profits with the Israeli government. There is also absolutely NO evidence that some of the major shareholders donate some of their own *private* income to the Zionist cause and there is NO evidence that they somehow benefit financially from the occupied territories. (There are many that do however have evidence of the above) The only legitimate ground that some of these companies should be boycotted is that they sell Israeli/Occupied territory products in their stores which I dont personally believe is enough to cause nationwide boycotting since I believe the products should be boycotted rather than the whole store. I do however accept that boycotting and a subsequent fall in sales may force the companies to reconsider their stance on selling products from this region. These boycotting ventures need to be specific and focussed if theyre to have any real impact. Questions need to be asked such as how high an impact will this have on the Israeli economy and whether it shows a message of intent. We need to prioritise these boycotts and focus on them before spreading ourselves too thin and exhausting ourselves in the process. There needs to be some level of wisdom and strategy involved.
