You have to pick where you want to go and start moving that - TopicsExpress

You have to pick where you want to go and start moving that direction. Then, just keep moving. Inch by inch, step by step. You will get there. When I started cardio rehab, it was just something else to do, like taking medicine, changing socks, or what ever. It was pretty embarrassing that I could not even walk very far, or that old ladies were stronger than me (and weighed more), but I did what needed doing and kept going. I did not have a fitness plan in my head, I just knew I was a wounded animal and needed to be much stronger than I was. I was weak and pitiful. Soon, my treadmill/EKG monitored walks at the hospital became unassisted walks out in the fresh air. Not long after that, I had a pit bull in tow and we were actually covering some ground. Not quite a year later, and I am strong and fit as ever. My walks have become part of my life and something I look forward to (Harley too). Its a great way to clear my head, have time to reflect, and pray. I encourage you to get moving. Start as small as you have to and keep moving. It feels great and does not cost anything but a little time. It is the same in my spiritual walk. I can remember years ago telling Jill Williams that I wish I could put a fire hose in my ear and blast out all the bad and evil thoughts. Jill and her husband Jay Williams have been great mentors and inspirational role models to me in my Christian walk. Jill told me something that made more sense to me than any sermon I had ever heard, and it stuck with me to this day. It just clicked and made sense. She told me to imagine my life as a muddy glass of water. If I keep pouring muddy water into my glass, I will still have a muddy glass of water. If I start pouring in clear water, bit by bit, drop by drop, my glass will lighten until I eventually have a clear glass of water. It works!! I find myself much easier to live with these days. My glass is starting to clear up! Pick a direction and keep moving! See you there! It gets dark sometimes, but do not fear. Jesus is the light of the world. Shine a light!!
