You have to understand the rationale behind me falling in love - TopicsExpress

You have to understand the rationale behind me falling in love with Newcastle United. It is a choice I made and it was not brought about the ability to win championships of sign big players. It is just football. It is no secret that I used to be a big Manchester United supporter growing up. I loved everything Red Devils. Even before the days of Quinton Fortune and Roy Keane. I still have a little soft spot for them, that is obvious. But, I saw Newcastle United play. It was the most beautiful football I had ever seen. The passion from the managers, players and fans was something to experience while still alive. Their colours are better than anything you can think of, home colours that is. Even with a meagre budget, Newcastle United punched over their weight to play Champions League football and then Europa League football, this without buying big players put producing. Now, with that, you have to understand that football development is something I love. I then come across people who will claim to love Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United, when we know well why. My initial decision to support United was because of the magical treble in 1999, and that time I was eight years old. I saw them on a show called The Best of English. They were terrific and they were winnning titles. They had the best players, now I just had to support them. That is the reason why most people support those big teams in Europe. I know of a lot of people who moved with Ronaldo to Real Madrid, those who would move with Messi anywhere and those who supported Barcelona after the golden years, just as all the non-supporters who adopted Pirates, Chelsea and Manchester City after the treble and all the riches. Liverpool went through what we are going through, Manchester United too. The least said about Chealsea and Manchester Citys struggle before big money takeovers, the better. Laughing at my decision to support Newcastle exposes your lack of loyalty, failure to embrace challenges and constant yearning for victory, even if you dont work for it. Those who supported Man United under Howard Webb would know what I mean. I am a proud member of the Toon Army by choice, and I shall remain part of the Magpies family even if we go down to the Championship. Most of you can continue following players and act like you understand football. We will always understand. Mmasekepe Matsebane is a proud Newcastle United in good standing.
