You hear a lot about organizations focused on MS research, especially during March—but what does that really mean? For us at the Myelin Repair Foundation it means not just funding basic myelin repair research for MS, it means translating our best, most promising discoveries into clinical trials and ultimately delivering treatments to the hands of patients. To deliver on our promise to turn over every stone in our quest to develop effective treatments for MS patients, our expert team of researchers discovered a previously FDA-approved drug (that we call MRF-008) that has potential to be repurposed to protect and repair myelin in MS patients. MRF-008 has been thoroughly tested in MRF’s state-of-the-art Translational Medicine Center, and now a new clinical trial is scheduled to begin this year to further investigate its potential in patients.
