You know I deal with this everyday. I watch minority students and white students engage in activities together and the minority student is always the one with the harsher consequence. Most times that being expulsion or change of placement. Even with my own child I was getting calls weekly and sometimes several times a week for normal 7 year old horseplay and annoying or mischievous behavior. However, when shes being hit several times by a student who also hits teachers and kicks chairs etc. no phone call. I have to initiate the call. Oh yea and hes white but hes transitioning and he doesnt handle anxiety well! Ive been doing this for 10 years so since hes ED he gets a pass!? Hell no its bc of white privilege! I lit that school up! Im not a racist but reality is reality! We have to protect our children. They are slaves to the system. No longer can we teach our children if someone puts their hands on you hit them back! They will be labeled and they will suffer the consequences for the rest of their academic careers and maybe even their lives.
