You know...I dont celebrate Christmas or Easter. When people say - TopicsExpress

You know...I dont celebrate Christmas or Easter. When people say to me Merry Christmas or Happy Easter I smile and am happy, because they are just giving me a happy greeting of the season. They mean well. They are looking to do a good thing...not try to convince me to be a Christian. So I smile right back at them and give them a friendly seasonal greeting in kind. Happy Holidays or Happy Solstice in December and Happy Spring at that time. You know...most all of these holidays started out as pagan rituals. The Winter Solstice is the darkest day of the year. So most of the holidays then are festivals that have light as an important element. Look at the Christmas lights, Chanukah and Kwanzaa candles, etcetera. Easter and Passover are closely related...in fact, the Last Supper was a Passover Seder, since Jesus of Nazareth was a Jewish fellow. Its perfectly fine to say Merry Christmas to anyone you meet in that season. Just dont expect them all to celebrate it. And if someone who DOESNT celebrate Christmas says Happy Holidays to you...dont have a freaking cow over the fact that they didnt say Merry Christmas to you. Not everyone celebrates it. And this is NOT a Christian nation. People ought to get rid of that notion. It is a nation of freedom. Freedom OF religion or freedom FROM religion if that is your choice
