You know, I had almost forgotten about Austin Currie, even though he was a TD for my area, and I think in 1989 my transfers contributed significantly to his election. I thought his career in politics here in the Republic was a bit of a disappointment. But what he had to say about the late Ian Paisley on Sunday Politics on BBC2 , was honest , courageous and truthful. It was a refreshing antidote to some of the hypocritical, smarmy and downright sickening comments of many politicians, especially Gerry Adams on the death of the extremist Unionist leader. In regard to Mr Adams fond reminiscence in the usual soft RTE interview of a conversation with Mr Paisleys widow about , inter alia, family, I was wondering did Mrs Paisley think of asking him about Mrs McConvilles family. And as for RTE has the DG sent out an e-mail no hard questions to politicians, especially senior Sinn Fein politicians.
