You know, I really enjoyed my first two World Series predictions - TopicsExpress

You know, I really enjoyed my first two World Series predictions this year ... but this last one is just a little too odd for even me to believe. And quite honestly, maybe it would have helped more had I been more on the ball to begin with, and gotten this one done in a more timely manner. After all, it was for the season up until June 22nd, and now the next one should be here right around the corner! I have no objection for the Rockies squeaking by as the NL West division winner, nor for them getting to the NL Championship Series. Every other division winner picked is exactly who is leading each division right now, so that part of the system seems to work well. But apparently, it will allow pretty much ANYONE to be wild cards, and ANYONE to make it through the playoffs! At least at 37-36, the Toronto Blue Jays looked like a semi-reasonable wild card pick, and considering they went from the 11th to the 22nd undefeated, they looked ready to "contend." And they combined to go 7-0 against the Rangers and the Rockies by a combined score of 39-9! But the fact that this system kicked out the 30-43 Chicago Cubs as the NL Wild Card winner, AND World Series rep, was very upsetting. On the bright side, at least the better team won, with the Jays taking it in just five games, including sweeping in Chicago. I hope the All-Star break provides a little clarity and sanity to the next round of forecasts.
