You know, I understand the outrage over domestic violence. Thats pretty basic stuff. What I dont understand is the inability to let the legal process run its course. In Greg Hardys instance, the woman set him up for the sole purpose of cashing in on his payday. She said as much earlier in the night to her girlfriend while they were still at the bar. She then threatened him that she would do exactly what she is doing. When she proceeded to engage the crazy, Greg Hardy called the cops. In Mecklenburg County, when the cops come out... SOMEONES going to jail. (There is no dropping it) In the overwhelming majority of instances, unless there is undeniable proof that it is the WOMAN who is the cause, the GUY is the one who is hauled off to jail. Period. Greg Hardy proclaimed and maintains his innocence. He was subsequently accused by the female, who was represented by a female attorney, who argued to a female judge that the female accuser was abused. The female judge pronounced him guilty in spite of the body of evidence. Greg Hardy appealed for a fair trial. A trial by jury. During the appellate process, and regardless of the original conviction, he is still entitled to the presumption of innocence. I could get into the messed up manner in which Mecklenburg has arranged their court proceedings, but suffice it to say that none of the original court proceedings may be used in his trial by jury. IF he is found guilty by a jury of his peers, then yes, appropriate punishment should be levied. But until then, while the process is still unfolding, he is entitled to the presumption of innocence, and should not be subject to penalties meant to punish the guilty. If it comes out hes guilty: Punish Him If it comes out hes innocent: What... are you going to take back all the hardships you insisted on hitting him with? How does THAT work?
