You know... I was furious when I found out that Senator Tom Coburn from this very state blocked the Senate from passing the Clay Hunt Suicide Prevention Act, which requires annual outside reviews of suicide prevention efforts run by the Defense and Veterans Affairs Departments. Then I LISTENED to what he had to say here in this YouTube video and did a little RESEARCH and you know what? Hes right... Theres already legislation* on the books that addresses the root of what this bill proposes to do. If congress had done its job in the first place and held the VA accountable none of this would have been necessary. I know that 22 Million Dollars in chump change in Washington and yes this bill could have went through... But why throw money at a problem and waste the tax payers dollars when the Congress should have been enforcing existing legislation? Enough with the charades already... Do your damned jobs its a travesty that our men and women in uniform along with our veterans are not getting the care they richly deserve. We owe it to them to save their lives and put and end to the suicides that take place all to often. We lose 22 veterans a day and that is gut wrenching. We need to find a way to prevent this. Do me a favor, contact your representative and tell them its time for them to hold the VA accountable... Thanks and Peace. * H.R. 327(110th): Joshua Omvig Veterans Suicide Prevention Act, Enacted — Signed by the President on Nov 5, 2007.
