You know, THE INTERROGATION OF CHERYL COOPER is really more an EXPERIENCE that a movie. The whole concept is how a viewers mind can be swept into the films reality through a single shot. It has a hypnotic effect on the mind. The film is a companion pice to my 2005 film, INFECTION. Which also was a single shot movie about an infection that took over a town in real time. That film centered on a Cheryl Cooper trying to avoid the infection even as she watched the Infection grow. When we screened it in Brussels in 2006, the 600 person audience was mesmerized. Over 200 stayed after the midnight screening for a 2 AM Q & A. It was a creepy unsettling watch in the right conditions. Cynthia and producer Norbert Weisser barricaded the Theater doors until we insisted engineering lower the theaters down to 65 degrees. The temperature the movies scene had when we shot. The temperature, 6 track soundtrack (that took a year to create) and the entire vibe created the right environment. Infection was released by Lions Gate and had its title changed to Invasion. When we screened it for Lions Gate execs they rushed out of their screening room to ask us how we did it. Create a single shot movie with so much horror. People thought the film could hurt them, some had bad nightmares after. It was a traumatic experience for some. THE INTERROGATION OF CHERYL COOPER is much the same. Hold onto your sanity, Las Vegas! It got the best reviews of my career up to that time. ROAD TO HELL has surpassed it. However heres what Dread Central said it in their review: Unreal. That’s one way to describe Albert Pyun’s latest freak-out flick, Invasion (review here). Filmed in one night, in one take, and delivering one hell of a chilling experience, Invasion presents another surprisingly fine example of cinéma-vérité kicking major ass! And man, what a ride this is!
