You know, after fuming over this subject in the days following one of my comedic idols, ROBIN WILLIAMS suicide, Ive decided to post this rant. Its EASY for people to condemn those whove committed suicide, in great part to the fact that they HAVE NO IDEA WHAT DEPRESSION IS, NOR DO THEY THE SLIGHTEST INKLING OF KNOWLEDGE OF JUST HOW CRIPPLING IT IS. Ive lost NUMEROUS childhood friends to suicide, and having been there during their low points, I couldnt shake the feeling of guilt that I felt for not being able to free them from the pain and sorrow that would (and does) wash over them like a BLACK FOG that rolls in during the dead of night. I wont name any of them, but most of you know the ones that Im talking about. Imagine being in a great mood, then at the drop of a hat, you hate being around people, and you lash out at the ones you love, then immediately apologize when it passes. Many people become reclusive during their low points, and most put up the biggest masks of happiness in front of others. Sometimes its those who seem the HAPPIEST who are in the MOST PAIN. When I hear someone say that a person who took their own life was a coward, or they took the easy way out, it makes me want to-- well I wont say what it makes me want to do, but unless you KNOW something about what someone is going through, KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT. I miss the friends of mine who are gone, and it still hurts to this very day, Now this topic IS NOT open for a discussion on religion, and any that I deem negative gets deleted. Rather than focusing on what you think about them as a person, focus on the tragic set of events that set their decision in motion. If a person commits suicide to avoid going to jail for any reason, its one thing. But to vilify people who suffer (AND I MEAN SUFFER, TOO) from depression, makes you a truly sad person... To ALL OF MY FACEBOOK FRIENDS AND FAMILY who suffer from depression (and you can believe that I know who many of you are), please know that I LOVE YOU, and if you need someone upon which to lean, Ill be your tree.... I mean that. Be strong
