You know, as much as I enjoy the show THE WALKING DEAD, I cant help but feel that it feeds into right-wing paranoia to a T. It virtually celebrates the fear of the other (minorities, immigrants, take your pick) and validates the Tea Partys belief that all problems can be solved by fencing the others out or shooting them. I dont think its a coincidence that right-wingers often use cardboard cutouts of zombies for target practice. This is in direct contrast to George A. Romeros DAWN OF THE DEAD, which used satire to show how much rednecks loved to shoot zombies for sport. And, by the way, Romero should get a credit - and a residual check - for every flesh-eating zombie movie, TV show or comic book. He invented them; before NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, zombies were merely re-animated corpses used for slave labor.
