You know how people ask How can there be freedom in religion? If you have to submit to God and be subservient to all his rules, what kind of freedom is that? With all humility, invite me to what you call freedom, because I may be fooling myself into thinking Im truly liberated, when I just might be enslaved, and you have something better to offer. I just never saw you as truly free because to me, you seemed upset about something, Im not sure what it is. Could it be the pile of bills you must struggle to pay? The status you are aiming to keep in society? The degree you hope will get you noticed? The respect you desire to earn from you peers? The looks you must struggle to keep, lest society might reject you? The fear you might lose your friends if they found out you really dont own that big beautiful house down the street? Youre always running around, like a mouse with its head cut off not knowing where the next hole in the wall is. The standards youve accepted to live up to really dont seem like theyre your own. Youre so attached to this world that you can no longer see the bigger picture because you were too busy racing with the rest of the world to a dead end. I thought you were free because you seemed happy to me. Until, one day, I met Allah, and by knowing him, I could do nothing but submit. With that submission came a sense of liberation, a sense of freedom I never felt before. Surrendering to him, I felt a sudden relief from the shackles that come with this worldly life, that struggle to be the best in this world, earning the highest statuses, the biggest paychecks, and most of all the worry that comes with uncertainty. You never know how you will make ends meet and you always worry about the outcome of things and the rules set by men. You always worry about what people think of you and if you will make it in this life. Live the American Dream. I dont have to worry about that because I put my trust in Allah(swt) and he controls the outcome of all things. And I dont care for the judgment of men or the white picket fence. I dont struggle to maintain a status in this life because Allah judges my deeds and not my degrees. Allah judges my character and not the number of zeros on my paycheck. And that, to me is not only a whole lot easier than your way of life, but it is a liberation. I dont have to worry about standards other men impose on me but I follow the ones Allah set for you and I together. Isnt God more reliable than man? More mericiful than man? More aware of your struggles and your patience, more rewarding than your boss? Alhamdulilah for Islam and alhamdulilah for the freedom that comes with submission to Allah. Yes, if becoming Allahs salve gives me freedom from all this, then without a doubt, I will aim to be the best slave. I truly feel sorry for you, of all the land on this earth, youve chose a tiny corner on a ground, and dug up a tiny grave on a field, and sacrificed all you had to purchase that estate, then you called it your freedom. Take pride in your estate and Ill take pride in mine. And whoever submits himself to Allah completely and does good, then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold, and with Allah rests the outcome of all things TMQ 31:22
