You know life is interesting when a stranger who did NOT enjoy your first novel (at all) invites you to a Christmas Party -- and it is still October. Sweetie, this reader told me in August, I just dont know who your audience is. Youre writing about relationship drama starring people in their 20s. I honestly dont know of anything more boring than this. People in their 20s are dull. This book is DULL. Maybe people in college might enjoy it, but no one else will. Youre a nice person though. You should pick something more interesting to write about next time. Then she comes to visit me at the Local Authors Fair this month, and emails me this week to invite me to a book club Christmas Party downtown -- for fun, food, and friendship. So I am like, whoa, this is so... [mayday, mayday, where is my hidey-hole?]... but then Im like, argh, just GO. Do the thing. Its a Christmas Party! How much trouble can I get into at a book club Christmas Party? Sheesh. :)
