You know me, I like to give a shout out to our local businesses that support us.. Here is a little story about how Buddy came to be a Tails of Success student. On the day of capture, we brought Buddy back to the home he was adopted and lost from, after sitting there and trying to figure out the best plan for him, we all came to the conclusion, this may not be the best option for him now. He was a different dog and needed a huge committment to bring him around, unfortunately with the work schedule and schooling this was not gonna be possible. It was a VERY emotional day for me, as I followed this story from the day Operation GYPSY brought him to Rochester. (and as a matter a fact, this Buddy was not suppose to be the one coming to Rochester, the shelter in Ohio sent the wrong Buddy) Was it fate that he ended up here and in the hands of some caring people...maybe) As Karla, Jen and I were trying to decide what to do next, we got permission to bring him back to the shelter he was adopted from, about half way there, we received a call from the shelter that he couldnt take him (through no fault of the shelter, it just couldnt be done). Enter... MY EMOTIONAL BREAKDOWN, Buddy NOW was unwanted. I could not contain my tears, it was heart wrenching. We then decided it was probably best to board him so we made a made a call to Tails of Success and spoke to Richard Allen, we asked if they had an opening to board a medium size dog and he said they did, oh what a relief that was for me. We arrived at Tails and Buddy would not get out of the vehicle, Rich did not force him out, he sat on the tailgate and spoke with Buddy, he coaxed him out slowly with praise and treats. (all the while my anxiety was kicking in that he was walking in an unfenced area-leashed of course and all I could think about was him getting loose again) Once inside, we received a wealth of information about the actions of fearful dogs. The video below is minutes after Buddy arrived at Tails. ** I CANNOT thank everyone enough at Tails of Success for their guidance to bring Buddy around. Rich guides me into the next phase of Buddys recovery almost daily, when I bombard him with questions. LOL Sorry Rich, Im not the professional here. Without his knowledge, I would not have thought to take the next steps in the manner I did to introduce Buddy to people and my dogs, I would have done it differently which is probably why I say my dogs are jerks when meeting other dogs. So, please if you ever consider wanting your dogs to go to daycare, obedience and/or a wealth of other programs go to Tails of Success. They were all absolutely wonderful. Thank you, Rich, Cam, Denise, and the other girls there.
