You know, sometimes you just want to explode in a contained area, - TopicsExpress

You know, sometimes you just want to explode in a contained area, about the size of a porta potty. I was brought up with an iron fist and learned quickly children should be seen and not heard. A simple mistake cost you a belt across your back or even worse a custom made paddle. Today just backhanding a child who needs a strong adjustment will get you jail time. In my case, someone would have been serving about 20 years. What happened to common courtesy? People do not even respond to dinner invitiations any more, and companies bribe you saying if you file an Unfair Labor Practice against the union; we will help you, and never do help once you complete the request. What kind of world is that? It proved beyond any doubt we are simple pawns in a game played by the company and the union. I can clearly understand the frustration of the company, they are basically powerless to end this reign of terror and must endure cursing and actions not even befitting a baboon (not that I am making a comparison). This election is more important than any of the operators realize. Living for today has presented an aire of who cares about tomorrow. Those with children find out in a hurry how fast tomorrow comes to be reality. The last election it was said it would be a mistake to change the administration becasue of contracts, this to me is what was written on the bathroom wall during the Nixon administration why change dicks in the middle of a screw; vote for Nixon and Agnew. In this case Nixon and Agnew have been replaced by Beanie and Cecil. I truly hope the spell cast upon the operators/membership has weakened to a point that they are singing I Can See Clearly Now just at Cheech did when he removed his knit hat from his eyes. Some people you would just like to shake until they wake up and smell the coffee. When two of the finest gentlemen I have ever known resigned from the union, it was dark days. Mike Clifton and Mike Herald are what I consider to be the fiber that binds us all together. Each time we lose men of stature like this; the cloth is weakened and provides an entry point by the company to destroy any remnants of solidarity. I know it does not mean much, but it tore a bit off heart out to witness these men who give us so much resigning. Does anybody understand what it is for life long union men to resign? Have we become so hardened and careless we failed to see the significance of this disaster? Hey, call me a softee, but it hurt everyone, union and non union alike. These men pioneered and plowed the way for us to follow. A union that causes and allows men like this to withdraw is not a union at all, but only a social club. We have endured many difficulties with our employer(s) and the scars will never heal completely. Our union provides the infection to the scars to keep them festering. For quite some time I was able to help operators with direction and help that would remain confidential. At none time management actually had a desire to remedy problems without undue, harsh punishment. Today, that has all changed to what amounts to a brick wall. You cannot put out a forest fire with a single fire extinguisher, nor can you rebuild the forest with a sinlge act. Now contract time is upon us and millions of dollars will be at stake. I now have the freedom to visit with people and speak to them not as an operators, but a concerned citizen that know the real inside story. My sources tell me there is a new wind blowing into town and their name is not Veolia/TransDev/whatever. It is very likely we will see a new employer who seems to have a very good standing in the transit community. I would not be surprised to see a kinder, gentler TransDev emerge at least until the contract decision is made. Of course with a new employer, there may be a lot of people out of a job once the background checks come back. This seems to be a bit of joke because it seems they are losing operators faster than they can hire them. Who the hell wants to wait for years and years for top pay? Four years was about perfect. It seems to be a stupid attitude because losing seasoned and skilled operators will destroy the SAFETY RECORD WE ESTABLISHED. You MUST remember nearly 1/3 of the million milers in the TransDev system are HERE IN PHOENIX. We make their reputation, not management, US. At any rate, back to the subject matter. I received a call today stating that a flyer for the stooges was contained in the election envelope. This must be a mistake, it just cannot be possible. I stand ready to refute this as not one other person has made this clear. HOWEVER, there have been a massive amount of people who are no longer at transit who have received ballots. HELLO MR. FINANCIAL SECRETARY - ARE YOUR RECORDS IN SUCH DISARRAY YOU DO NOT KNOW WHO IS MEMBER AND WHO IS NOT? Damn, incompetence running wild through the whole local. I told you before and I will keep repeating it - STOP MAKING IDLE THREATS TO SUE EVERYONE, IT IS GETTING OLD AND QUITE TEDIOUS. BRING IT ON - OR SHUT YOUR FOUL MOUTH, SIMPLE AS THAT. WE NEED TO GET THIS INTO COURT AND EXPOSE THIS CRAP TO EVERYONE. We have three (3), thats right three, so you can clearly understand that is III attorneys working on the case as I write. TRUTH AND JUSTICE ARE OUR SHIELD. I the Police Report does nothing else, IT IS A CLEAR SNAP SHOT OF HOW INEFFICIENT AND INEFFECTIVE THE ADMINISTRATION HAS BEEN AND CONTINUES TO BE. Go ahead, lets get the subpoenas flying around and root out ALL the truths, the elections, money, false reports, ineffective representation, lies and ejection of members for simply telling the truth. Bring it on, we stand ready at any time, any place. I will bet the EEOC is going to cost plenty from the membership, for your insullence and racism. Only a bit more time and you will be gone, and pending the decision from Washington, D.C. you will also be out of a job. See you on the bus!
