I was rooting for Argentina to lift the World cup, after Brazil showed us that Felipe Scolari, and his boys, have been infected by the South African recklessness on the football pitch... thanks to Carlos Perreira. So I am driving my blame shot at Lionel Messi. Forget that the Germans were really doing their business on the pitch. Messi just did not come to the party. With the 120 minutes available to him, I can count how many times Messi was tackled - 9 times. I can count how many times he was fouled - 3 times. This comes down to a meagre 12 minutes... thats if you apportion the entire 60 seconds to every incident. And I am being generous here, if you know what I mean. So what was he doing the whole 112 minutes? Walking. Yes, Messi covered more ground walking than he did running, with or without the ball. And when he kicked the ball wide after being in the clear to face Neuer, before sending the ball to the rafters from the spot kick in the dying minutes, I concluded in my heart: Messi, I am going to blame you for the next 4 years! So I have started. hahahaha
