You know, theres apparently a comic artist who stuck his foot in it going off about big media conventions, and yammering about cosplay events. I get that a lot of people are angry about it. I get it. Its negative. Its kinda mean, and I very much understand that. Heres what i dont understand. How many of you actually know who created half the comic book characters you watch in the movies? How many of you know that there are multiple creators for some of them? How many of you know that some were written by one person and DRAWN by someone COMPLETELY DIFFERENT? The other thing about Pat Brodericks rant I get is that people have suddenly found a lot of Marvel movie, comic book TV shows, and lots of comic book based media stuff. Almost NONE of the new fans really appreciate how many people put DECADES of their lives into BUILDING those universes. I didnt either, until I took a class on it, and its MIND BLOWING how important the combination of art and writing is. The communication between author and artist and letterer must be solid, assuming theyre different people. Often, in fact, usually they are. So I sympathize with an artist who works in an industry that seldom gives a ton of credit to more than a VERY FEW of the really big names. Ive decided that Im going to start posting about the artists, random factoids and pictures, and stuff. Why? BECAUSE YOU KIDS NEED CULTURE. :) Yep. Bacteria. Er... I mean, seriously, theres a lot to be said for appreciating the people who build and wrote the universes we have so much fun in. So I think its something Im going to post more about. Art. Is. IMPORTANT.
