You know what I just remembered respective of your travels abroad last week. The time when I was at the Kam Cheng Chinese Restaurant on Hillside Avenue in Jamaica, Queens ordering Chinese take out and whos standing there as I turn around - you and another person. Who was that other individual? You know Kam Cheng is still at the same location. At the time I was no longer employed at The Cooper Union. My co-worker must have informed you. I was wearing my grubs that day as I do when Im just canvassing the shops in the area. I still could not believe that you would trek all the way out to Queens from Manhattan to locate me as you did when you were on Jamaica Avenue near the Pizza Place. When did you get work done? Ive always loved Chinese Cuisine and still do. For dietary purposes, I restrict consumption of everything and when consumed, only in moderation. One of my favorite Chinese dishes is one with the Jumbo Prawns - those huge shrimps and lobster with lots of water chestnuts and baby corns. You know, I have yet to sample egg foo young - the name doesnt appeal to me but everything else on the menu is o.k. I like the regional variations - Cantonese, Szichuan, and Mandarin. When I worked at the International School in DC, on Fridays I usually ordered one of these variations from a restaurant on Connecticut Avenue for dinner, including egg rolls, dumplings, spring rolls, won ton soup, or whatever. I like hot and sour soup too but it can be too hot spicy. When I was in College I would round up a group of students and head out to Lotus East, The only Chinese Restaurant in Saratoga Springs - we had a blast! In Arlington, VA the Chinese Restaurants I ordered from were Mrs. Chens on Columbia Pike and Charly or PF Chiangs in Crystal City. Someday Ill tell you about an episode with the Lo Mein. All in all I like most Chinese dishes and for the most part my encounter with Chinese individuals have been pleasant. I cant say that Im acquainted with anyone Chinese. My fathers nephew married a Chinese woman - Dana I think her name is. At one time there were many Chinese families residing in Haiti. One who comes to mind is Francoise Hong Kong who worked with my father. Most Chinese families have left Haiti for various reasons - if there are any very few remain!
