You know what I miss? Laugh tracks. Yes, LAUGH TRACKS. All of these single-camera comedies make me yearn for the days when studio audience applauded when a special guest star popped up at somebodys door, went Awwwww when John Stamos hugged one of the Olsen moppets and hooted and hollered whenever Al Bundy zinged Marcy dArcy. TV comedy is too damn serious anymore for that sort of thing, I suppose. When did sitcoms stop being fun and silly and more about being serious and hammering viewers over the head with social messages. I will gladly trade in a seasons worth of ground-breaking Modern Family episodes for one more episode of Threes Company where the only thing that is broken is a table after a classic John Ritter pratfall, which is, of course, and rightfully so, followed by a loud smattered of applause.
