You know whats tough and could be made easier if we tried? Parenting. More specifically, raising children according to the practices of our ancestors. We hear time and again about our children being the future of our nations and of our peoples and I agree that they are. But if what we teach them is the nuclear family type of family structure (mom, dad, and children living in a home isolated from the rest of their family except for visits or maybe special occasions) which was created in the 1950s by advertisers to sell more junk, then the thing we teach them about the most is that we have to consume an incredible and unsustainable amount of junk in order to function as a family and that families live apart from one another. This totally, completely and persistently undermines our attempts to create healthy families because the model of family we are using, the nuclear family, is a sick representation of how families look, how they work, and what we need as human beings.
