You know who should be overseeing NASA, or any scientific agency for that matter? A scientist. Not a lawyer turned politician, but someone familiar with the engineering and scientific work being done by the agency theyre presiding over, and someone who respects the scientific process and doesnt eschew scientifically proven and accepted fact because they simply dont like it. I cannot believe that someone with such passionate disdain for science has been chosen to lead Americas most prestigious and well-known scientific agency, NASA. This isnt about trying to balance a political issue between red and blue interests, this is about the deliberate actions a leader in our government has taken to alarmingly bury scientific fact and cut money to crucial engineering and scientific development because he doesnt respect and understand the work they are doing. How can people be so comfortable with such blatant idiocy and ignorance controlling the future of our nation and affecting the scientific community of the world? Money shouldnt be given to or cut from scientific agencies just because party lines demand it. Such agencies should be awarded money as is necessary to do the approved research they have been tasked with doing - no more, no less. Yes, government agencies must deal with political issues, but the fact that this man, Ted Cruz, is out to cut scientific funding because he doesnt like the discoveries science has been uncovering is terrifying! We actually have people in our government unintelligent enough to completely ignore scientific facts and powerful enough to convince other people to follow them.
