You know, with me personally, its late nights a lot of things come to mind and is impressed upon my heart. Sometimes I hold them to myself because theyre too personal and I want to hold them that way. Other times I just fail to speak my mind because of I either dont know how to word it or Im not sure how certain people will react. But honestly, tonight I need to voice a few things that arent specifically aimed at anyone or anything. But in general to speak from an open mind and heart on certain points I feel lead and feel the need to. First off, A lot of people use the phrase how underrated, underappreciated, etc the upcoming talent in the entertainment industry is. Im just being honest when I say this, there is an even more underrated, underappreciated aspect of the entertainment industry. Its the behind the scenes people. This is just being honest. This isnt taking away from how much the entertainers do. Or how much they contribute or go through. But within this business, the ones who put in comparable hours and stress...Often times more is the behind the scenes people. The booking agents, the managers, the talent buyers/club owners, the video people, the radio/tv people etc. You can think of the entertainers as the Machine...And the people behind the scenes as the gears, cogs and mechanisms inside that machine that aid it in running. The majority of behind the scenes people DO NOT do it so that they get the spotlight on them or to be the center of attention. However a lot of what they do is a very thankless task. When someone organizes a great lineup for a show, the majority will say how great the bands did, not how great the person who organized it did for picking out the lineup. The new photographs of entertainers will get complimented about how great they look, but often times the person who got the lighting just right, scouted the location for days/weeks to find the right spot, edited etc doesnt get told how great a job they did. When talent goes on tours, they get told how great they are for going on the road, how great the shows were etc...The person who sat for 8-20 hours a day (be it sending out emails till their backside falls asleep or talking on the phone till their ears are red, hot and sore) booking that tour, making sure the bands on the bill with their band arent horrible and all the other micromanaging it takes to make a tour a success, often times dont get acknowledged for the tour. So point being, everyone in this business plays a vital role. None of them deserve to be overlooked. Theres a lot more to keeping the wheel that is the entertainment industry running. Next, entertainers arent the only ones who leave the business because behind the scenes people did them wrong. There is a HIGH number of behind the scenes people who also leave the industry because they lose heart because of stuff the entertainers do. Next, for the people who are constantly saying that venue owners, booking agents and managers are getting rich off the upcoming acts, STOP IT NOW! People dont work with upcoming talent because theyre going to get rich...they do so because they love and respect them. This is why people who work with upcoming acts either usually have a 9-5 or they work with more well known talent to help balance it out. Next one, drama on social media sites, it DOESNT matter what someone did to you, if youre one of those people constantly posting drama on your twitter, fb etc its going to backfire on you. It will make you look bad when you were trying to make others look bad. Best thing to do if someone stabbed you in the back, hurt you, did you wrong is keep it low key...If youre the constant name dropper or person saying he said/she said...It is going to burn you. With entertainers this is especially true, be it on the fan pages or personal ones, industry people ARE watching you. If they see you always beefing with or about others, this can seriously not only effect you but the project youre in...So moral of the story, if something happens, pick it up and move on...If you got to talk to someone about your situation, keep it private not public. Next, you get a better feeling out of building people up than tearing them down. If you havent tried it, you should. If you make a habit out of tearing others down, you might want to stop. The next issue, whether its in reference to a personal or professional sense - certain things like family, spouses/significant others, children and ones own health are always the TOP priority. Anyone who doesnt respect this ISNT worth the time to worry. The reason being is everyone will always make those things in their lives a top priority, if they expect you not to do the same, theyre selfish and a bit of a hypocrite. Next, Appreciation. If someone is going out of their way to do something for you, no matter what it is...appreciate them/it. What someone is doing for you and their willingness to do so isnt something that they have to do or is guaranteed to keep on doing if you dont appreciate their efforts. Next, judging others. It is neither someones right or job to judge others. No one in this world is perfect. Also none of us know anyones life story. None of us have ever walked in others shoes...So with that said, if youre someone whose playing the judge of someones life, STOP! I believe the Bible summed it up best - Pull the beam out of your own eye, before you pull the speck out of your brothers. No one knows what it took for a person to get up that day and keep on going. Sometimes all it takes is one more thing to push another person too far. At the end of the day, were all here for the same thing, to live life the best we can and be as happy as we can doing it...So best advice, love each other the best you can. Respect each other the best you can. Take care of each other the best you can. Whatever you do, do it the best you can. We only get one life. There is no repeat button. Much love everyone. Have an amazing night.
