You know youve worked in the hospitality industry for so long when youre getting a snack at the shops and you upon reflex do everything the sales clerk is about to do before he does it. Sales: Ho- Me: Hows your day so far? Sales: Uh, great. How bout yours? Me: Pretty swell, just these ones today on card. Sales: *works registry and turns back to me* Which account wou- Me: *already finished keying transaction* No worries man all done. Sales: Well arent you in a hurry! Me: Na, just reflex. Too many card sales makes you like that. And yea Im just waiting for the receipt. Sales: Mmm, yea been doing this for almost 2 years and Im getting still used to AND still learning new things. Me: I know, been in the industry myself too for almost 8 years and Im still learning too. You have a good week man. Sales: You too! Here man, have this, you look like you need it more than me. * hands over a kitkat * Me: Woah man, thanks! Today is kick-ass.
