You listen to this song & you become convinced that we have failed many men & women who sacrificed their lives for this country. At the core of this song is the minerals & how Black men were separated from their families, turned into slaves in the land of their fathers digging for gold & the profits ending up in foreign countries. This song is reflective of the emptiness in Gauteng in December, men were forced to leave their wives in search of gold, some never returned home & they settled. A lot seems to have changed but a lot has not changed. Superficially we have a lot to celebrate but the past & present objective reality is that we have failed to address the fundamentals. The is little to celebrate because we are still stuck in the realities of Mirriam Makeba the difference being it is the Black men in power
