You may be surprised to know that how you view your problems is in fact the problem. For instance, to some the cup is half-full and to others it is half- empty. Yet to others, it depends on the cup; if you take the same water and pour it into a smaller cup, you may find that your cup now runneth over. Problem solved. We hope and pray that change will come in the form of more water for our half-full/half- empty cups. Well, perhaps the change you need today is not so much more water but a different cup. It could very well be that the water accorded to you by the LORD is enough - you are just using the wrong cup. In this context, the wrong cup consists of assumptions you have made. For example; a man in a hurry to get to his destination was driving down a village road when he came to a narrow bridge with high walls on both ends. To his dismay, there was a farmer ahead of him leading a flock of sheep. Since he was in a hurry, he proposed that the farmer keep the sheep still by the sides whilst he passed by. The farmer would not accept this proposal since there was no guarantee that he would not step on any of the sheep. Whats more, being sheep, they could easily scare as the car passed by and there was no telling what that would lead to. In this example, the man could perhaps pray for a wider bridge, faster sheep or perhaps, no sheep in the first place. This is based on the assumption that he has to drive past them. A good solution to this problem is to stop the car and turn off the engine and ask the farmer to turn round and walk his sheep past his car (in the opposite direction). This shouldnt take too long; once this is done, the man has the bridge to himself to drive as fast as he wants and the farmer can get back to walking his sheep across the bridge. A different cup, where the water runneth over, indeed.Based on our assumptions, we are tempted to think that the answer to some of our problems may lie in pushing harder; not necessarily. For instance, if you are in a crowded and noisy room and you are expecting an important phone call, one solution may be to increase your ringer volume. Depending on noise levels, one might miss to hear the phone ring. A better solution is to turn- off the ringer, set it to vibrate and keep it in your pocket where you will feel it vibrate. Indeed, less is more. Review your assumptions - they are not always right.Good morning.
