You may have caught our earlier introduction to Twich Womens - TopicsExpress

You may have caught our earlier introduction to Twich Womens Sewing Collective a colourful social enterprise in Dandenong. The organisation takes its name from the Twich community/tribe originating from South Sudan, to which the women involved belong. With help and encouragement from The Social Studio, Twich Womens Sewing Collective was formed to provide formal/informal training and support for migrant communities. There are 50 women and another 6 students involved in Twich with sewing services and products ranging from alterations to formal training in clothing production and retail of its own garments and accessories. Recently Twich took part in Cultural Threads in Dandenong where they ran an energetic and vibrant fashion parade showcasing their cultural clothing as a way of promoting cultural diversity and engaging positively with the greater community. As you can see from the gorgeous photos they know how cause a stir... The hand beaded corset top was literally sewn onto the model! Twich hopes to open a second shop in the western suburbs and raise enough money to begin helping women in South Sudan. Photos via TWICH * We run on love!
