You may have heard Ridley Scott recently opine that Deckard was indeed a Replicant in Blade Runner. Its making the entertainment news rounds today, but he has said it many times before, ad its gotten the same reaction from me every time. First, no he isnt. That isnt in the movie, it has nothing to do with the movie, and it isnt a necessary or essential part of the story. Second, we should all be thankful that Deckard being a Replicant is just part of the banal fan fiction of the movies director and not a part of the movie. Making Deckard a replicant completely negates his being conflicted about killing other replicants (Now it isnt his humanity coming through its his repli...manity), Deckard was supposed to be a stand in for human beings and the way we treat certain classes of citizens. It adds nothing to the character, rather detracts, and it serves to do nothing but turn Blade Runner into more of another sci fi universe, and less of the satire that it so brilliantly crafted, Third and most importantly; Ridley Scott did not write Blade Runner, so his opinion is even more removed from fact than if he had, but more to the point, even if he had written it... well, Ill let Nicholas Meyer make this point in the following video. Any time Ridley Scott says something stupid like Deckard was a Replicant, trust me I m the director, or gives some half assed, stupid, ridiculous convoluted excuse to why Prometheus was such a sloppy mess, (A movie that he also didnt write) keep this in mind... Nick Meyer gets it, why doesnt Scott? PLEASE GO TO 45:00 OF THIS VIDEO: https://youtube/watch?v=2YwG2KzQfGI
