You may not agree...but IMO anyone who doesnt buy CDs or LPs really doesnt care about music. Try as you may to convince me otherwise, I have made numerous comparisons between streaming, Mp3 and Cd and there is a HUGE difference (for instance) between listening to John Eliot Gardiners Beethoven cycle through streaming or Mp3 and listening to the CDs. The CD sound is stunning! Now, I do subscribe to Spotify because it is convenient for mobile use and it allows me to test drive. However, the sound, even at the highest quality setting is, at best, mediocre. And in spite of Spotifys rather economical subscription rate, if I hear something I like...I buy it. For Christmas, one of my daughters gave me a Amazon gift card and I ordered the older recordings of the Tokyo String Quartets Complete Beethoven Quartet cycle and Grigory Sokolovs Chopin collection. Both are wonderful on streaming and I have complete trust in the fact that the CDs will be even better.
