You may remember Morton Grove as being the laughing stock of the country when in 1981, Morton Grove became the first town in America to prohibit the possession of handguns and almost immediately their violent crime doubled! On July 28, 2008, Morton Grove dropped its prohibition on handguns, after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in District of Columbia v. Heller, rather than get sued. You may also remember that at the same time, Kennesaw Geroga unanimously passed an ordinance requiring each head of household to own and maintain a gun. Crime in Kennesaw Geroga plummeted and in the 31 years since the law passed, not a Kennesaw single resident has been involved in a fatal shooting – as a victim, attacker or defender. wnd/2007/04/41196/
