You may wonder how you can serve God with the limits of your illness, but Diane encourages us to look at it as a new assignment. “We however, will not boast beyond proper limits, but will confine our boasting to the sphere of service God Him_self_Herf first assigned to us, a sphere that also includes you.” (2 Corinthians 10:13) Recently my husband and I heard a sermon in which the pastor used this verse to encourage us to ask, ”Am I doing what God has assigned me to do?” As my husband and I discussed it, I told him I felt that so much has changed over the last year, due to my illnesses, that I felt I wasn’t really doing much. No longer could I travel out of state doing mission trips, often now I’m not able to leave the house. Then my husband said,”How do you know God hasn’t just changed your assignment?” He then pointed out how my illness, as it is now, has allowed me to minister to a different group people–people he has prepared in advance for those divine appointments. He often working out a connection that is so amazing that only He could do it, showing His sovereignty. As I’ve dwelled on this, I recognized that just because I’m not doing the same ministry I have for the many years, doesn’t mean I’m not ministering fully for Him. I shouldn’t mourn it–I should joyfully embrace the new assignment, boasting of how and what God is doing! (remembering to “confine my boasting” to His power and strength). I can choose to believe that He knows best what and where I can be used to the fullest. Prayer: Father, thank You for the changes You have orchestrated in each of our lives. Help us to fully embrace those changes, knowing that Your plan is perfect. Our desire Lord is to serve You, let us not try to dictate that plan in our own will, but relinquish that control to You, giving You the very best we have to offer for Your kingdom. Amen.
