You might ask what happens when banks give anyone any amount of money to buy any car. What happens is that some people become overwhelmed by the car they have borrowed money to buy. Not being used to your bum touching, in this instance, the beautiful leatherwork of a black BMW X5, can be a rather overwhelming experience. Granted, from experience, having to pay the bank back their money with interest is frustrating. Nothing beats having it all to afford whatever ones heart wishes. This frustration therefore transforms itself into the feeling of invincibility. The feeling of being better than the rest of us. Oh, I drive an X5, youre in a Mini, I own the road with my expensive car, I have the ability to be above the law. Especially to you; you who drives a cheap car! To my story this rather beautiful morning: leaving to work at 9 I must say that I am absolutely blessed to avoid all the horror everyone goes through every single day. For those who know me theyd know how relaxed, almost never stressed I am while driving even through heavy traffic. Here I was driving into my office area through Manama gate. The traffic light at Manama gate coming off the highway. I came to a stop at the yellow box as traffic in front of me had reached to the extremities of the box. So dos the driver on the lane to my left. When this happens no one can take the far right to turn right to the road leading to NBB tower and all. Here is when a black BMW X5 comes in fast behind me, i could see him using my rear view mirror. He drives in fast, honking, flashing, along with some hand gestures which I could not make out. I instinctively pointed at the box. He wouldnt take it. He keeps doing what he has been doing best. I wanted to avoid confrontation so I actually drove a little ahead into the yellow box just so he could squeeze past me. And so he does. But instead of driving on to get on with his life, he decides noo, let me teach this man in his cheap Mini a lesson. He stops next to me, rolls down his window and begins to yell things I could not understand. Even the policeman at the Ministry was alert at this point. Instinctively, I rolled down my window, and in the heat of the moment I began to yell too. All I yelled however was: yellow box, yellow box you idiot!. He continued for about two-three seconds before he decided enough, as he rolled up his window and stepped on it and off he went to harass someone else. That was the end of it. Oh, may I add that the traffic light went green no longer than three seconds after he sped off. I mean, I certainly do not know what to make of this. Was this necessary for him? Was it a way of showing his might? Would he do the same thing say if I were in a Range Rover? Was it really necessary to make a scene, ruin my day, and ruin my mood? And his own too? For gods sake, he looked like hes in his late fifties. The age of being wise, collected and calm. I am only writing this to vent my frustration. Maybe I was wrong, and he was indeed above the law? I will never know. But I know one thing for sure, and thats to me the way we drive is a measure of how civilised we are. I truly apologise for what I wrote in the beginning. I hope it does not offend anyone, and no offence was meant even though it might have sounded snobbish, it was a way of starting my little essay. No offence was meant. I do understand that not everyone can afford to purchase cars in cash, we all work hard to be able to afford what we have, and that we indeed should take pride in what we are able to achieve/ acquire in life. No offence was meant. He is the one in a million. Have a wonderful day all :)
