You might have heard us talk about this bike before! All of a sudden people are picking them up for the winter. What bike are we referring to? The Infinito CV of course! One of our regulars took one for a ride recently and this is what he had to say: I’ve read the reports, I’ve heard the hype, and I’ve even looked at Bianchi’s non-bouncing ping pong ball video. However as a born cynic, all be it one with a garage full of Bianchi’s, I still harboured doubts. Stevie kindly offered me a chance to trial a CV, and sent me out of the shop with the words “you’ll be blown away” ringing in my ears. I have to admit I was. The cynic in me started to fade in the first few minutes. This bike is different to anything I’ve ever ridden. A good different that is. I’m not going to repeat what has been written several times before, so I’ll keep it short. Anyone who has ridden with me will know of my hatred of rough roads. However after about 5 minutes on the CV I actually stopped caring. This machine smoothly absorbed whatever I threw at it. Whilst obviously still avoiding massive holes in the road I soon found myself no longer automatically seeking the smoothest path. I rode about 150kms and was amazed how little it took out of me. This included the old road into Kalamunda (Aldersyde Road), the first section of which I particularly hate. On the Infinito CV I comfortably sat on the drops spinning away. It was easy to see why Belkin and Vancansoleil riders have raved about riding these in the cobbled classics. Manufacturers of cycling mitts should be worried, because if all bikes were made this way the only use for mitts would be to wipe your nose. This is the most versatile bike I’ve ever ridden. Obviously it is very comfortable, but it’s also light and fast. This is an outstanding all round bike. Add a pair of race wheels to the Fulcrum 5’s and you could do almost anything; coffee rides, road race, crits, audax, climb mountains. Anything! Anyone who only wants to own one bike should buy one of these. Anyone who wants to own more than one bike should consider adding one to their stable! Thanks John...when are you adding one to your stable?
